It was such a great pleasure to welcome the wonderful @yoyomaeght at galerieWinkler. Yoyo was invited to #artzug and had given a talk about her grandfather #aimemaeght and the early years of @fondationmaeght. Super inspiring! San Fruttuoso II

I walked to the lighthouse
A thought drifted back through the senses of smell and the sound of the bells 10 years ago I was here painting a statue of Jesus that sank in San Fruttuoso and I had went diving to try to see his eyes but all I saw was the bluest and greenest light and came up for air feeling like I had sensed Jesus becoming the coral prince and here by this kinda burnt lighthouse

I painted the anemone eyes and searched the chakras of the sea scape along with 5 other tangled spirits doing honey slides and espresso while the nightfishers arrived predawn with harvests of calamari then the smells of fresh pasta trofie wafted out to meet the beat pescerios and they drink white wine slow as the perfume changes to the focaccia

I painted between the 2 blues
Attempting to find the source of light in the dark clap of time
The irradiating of my voice and my heart
The first light of morning
Feeling nothing of the time and the river that would split merge and split
Outside of time the River is already in the ocean already
In the mountains always at the beginning the ending and the edge of awakening

The animal world, the natural sciences have fascin

The animal world, the natural sciences have fascinated @helgaschmidhuber since childhood.

Mysterious phenomena in nature, the origin of life. These are central ideas that Helga Schmidhuber interprets in fascinating beauty.

In her works, individual elements of multiple, overlapping images and stories come together to form a new, fabulous narrative of complex elegance. Motifs from nature, liberated from their natural environment, unfold a wild energy in an abstract field of tension.

Helga Schmidhuber studied fine arts at the Düsseldorf Art Academy with Prof. Dieter Krieg and Prof. Albert Oehlen, who appointed her his first master student.

I Hear my Train

'I Hear my Train' began in the summer 2018, after re-watching Jimi Hendrix's performance of the blues song, 'I Hear my Train a Comin.' I remember first seeing this performance in my father’s basement in highschool, feeling the rapture of this astro-purple-Cherokee blues, enthralling me to somehow reach for this level of pure expression, lightning. 18 years later, after seeing it again, I became realigned with my youthful artistic purpose, to convey the searing joy and oceanic pain of being alive, stone free, Freak American, with every particle of being devoted to exactly this performance of art. I painted this music.

When a painting is on fire, decisions are made from emergency, true and from the body. The fire unites the materials and all the colors burn together and become warmer and darker. There is no time to think, your body instinctively performs the color.

I then took a long drive to the source of the Mississippi River and followed it down to St. Louis, coming back to NJ with a gallon of River mud. With this mud mixed with a Pacific Blue, I added an essential layer to the Train light and cosmic material of the painting. It was the River, the mudbound soul of American music.

I AM THE MOUNTAIN

Years of traveling and painting, compelled to walk amongst many mountains, I have noticed the things that have shaped the peak have shaped me.

Rivers, ice, time, immemorial storms, fire, glacial wanderings, tectonic meetings, erosion, wind, sudden plasmic explosions, cosmic impacts, avalanche, freeze outs, new flowers growing.

The paintings are born from the same forces, as if the mountain is painting itself and the painter is an envoy of color. The color is the emotion of spirit, where we meet.

Walking among certain mountains, I begin to remember where I came from, why I am here, what I can still do. Thoughts, breaths, emotions and visions become purified and unified into a Great Vision and coming down the mountain I am never the same.

Some mountains are just a glimpse, when the clouds part and I am shooting by, and some I have looked upon for days, until their shapes are painted in my soul.

When I paint, tiny in the midst of the threshold, somehow, I am the mountain.

Neil ist ein "Nature Action Painter" mit Wurzeln in der Zentralschweiz. Auf seinem Weg von einer Malerreise durch Europa zurück nach New York, Santa Fe und zur Art Basel Miami Beach, auf der Neil in diesem Jahr auch ausstellen wird, legt er einen Zwischenstopp exklusiv in Zug ein, um eine Auswahl seiner neuen Gemälde zu präsentieren und von seinen Wanderungen und Erfahrungen in den Schweizer Bergen zu erzählen, die ihn zu seiner Kunst inspirieren.

Neil is a "Nature Action Painter" with roots in central Switzerland. On his way back from a painting journey through Europe to New York, Santa Fe and Art Basel Miami Beach, where he will also exhibit this year, he will stop exclusively in Zug to present a selection of his new paintings and talk about his hikes and experiences in the Swiss mountains that inspire his art.
